It's easy to fall in love with a home in Cozumel, but finding a trustworthy property manager when you're away can be challenging. For many homeowners, both locals and expats, Ricardo is the name that brings peace of mind.
Ricardo is one of the most sought-after property managers on the island. This isn't just due to his experience, but also his heart, reliability, and deep local connections that enable him to expertly navigate the unique challenges of island living.
Ricardo is renowned for his meticulous attention to detail and calm, efficient approach. He's the best preparing homes for hurricane season, overseeing renovations, or ensuring everything is perfect before owners return.
His clients particularly value the trust he has built over years of consistently delivering results.
A pivotal figure in the island's real estate scene, and why so many homeowners now see him not merely as a service provider, but as a dedicated caretaker of their cherished slice of paradise.

There’s more to Ricardo García González than property checks and repair calls.
When he’s not making sure homes are in top shape, he’s out living a life rooted in passion, discipline, and a deep love for Cozumel.
A long-time local and proud family man, Ricardo is also a marine biologist and certified dive instructor who’s spent over 30 years exploring the reefs that make this island so special, logging well over 10,000 dives in the process.
His connection to the ocean runs deep, and so does his respect for the island and the people who call it home.

A long time resident of Cozumel, Ricardo has spent years studying the reefs that surround the island. He knows their strengths, their fragile spots, and most importantly, how to enjoy them without causing harm.
That’s why he’s made it part of his personal mission to promote more conscious diving.
He takes time to explain how to approach marine life respectfully, no touching, no kicking up sediment, and always using reef-safe sunscreen.
He’s not trying to turn every diver into a conservationist, but he does want them to leave the water as they found it, or better. He believes small actions, when repeated often enough, lead to lasting change.
Ricardo’s knowledge of the sea isn’t just academic, it’s personal. Cozumel is home, and the reefs are a part of daily life here. That’s why he’s just as passionate about protecting them as he is about sharing them.
So, do you dive?
If you’re planning a trip to Cozumel or just curious about exploring the underwater world the right way, Ricardo would be glad to show you how to do it with care.

A multi-time Ironman finisher and currently training for the 2025 Chicago Marathon, Ricardo brings the same discipline and calm mindset to his work as he does to endurance sports.
When Ricardo isn’t managing homes or guiding divers through Cozumel’s reefs, you’ll likely find him paddling just offshore, training for one of the most meaningful physical challenges in the region: La Travesía Sagrada Maya / the Sacred Maya Crossing.

Held each May, this annual event recreates a centuries-old tradition: the ceremonial canoe journey from the shores of Xcaret to the island of Cozumel. In ancient times, the Maya made this crossing to deliver offerings to the goddess Ixchel, protector of fertility, the moon, and fittingly the sea. Today, participants train for months to paddle 30 kilometers across open water, just as their ancestors once did.

Participation isn’t open to walk-ins. Aspiring paddlers must complete several months of intensive training, both on land and at sea, and pass physical evaluations to earn their place in one of the ceremonial canoes. Ricardo, who has completed the crossing before, says the preparation is as much about teamwork and mindset as it is about fitness.
“It pushes your limits,” he says. “But it also gives you this deep respect for what the Maya accomplished with no GPS, no carbon paddles, just skill and purpose.”
Thinking of joining next year? Training typically begins in January, and there are information sessions open to the public in various locations across Quintana Roo.
Even for spectators, the event is a powerful experience, especially when the canoes land on Cozumel’s shores at sunrise to the sound of drums and conch shells.
