When clients ask us about building, renovating, or improving real estate in Cozumel, our answer always starts with the same principle: the most important decision is who you trust to build.
In a market where Cozumel real estate continues to grow in value and sophistication, construction quality is not just about how a property looks. It directly impacts long-term durability, lifestyle, maintenance costs, and resale value.
Today, we want to introduce you to Humberto Chim and HCH Construction, a company and a person we deeply trust and confidently recommend to build your dream home.
Founded in Cozumel in 1988, HCH was established with the clear vision of developing solid, well-thought-out projects that genuinely benefit their residents.
For over three decades in the local construction industry, HCH has built a reputation as a trusted and solid group capable of successfully executing high-complexity projects. Their focus from the start has been on quality construction, clear processes, and honest communication.
The key to their success lies in their extensive knowledge and ability to provide creative and innovative solutions to maximize your investment. Over time, HCH has grown, delivering projects that are known to last, not just look good initially.
Specializing in construction, renovations, architectural design, and drafting for development and building permits, HCH's skilled team of Architects, Engineers, and Project Managers offers various options for building or renovating commercial or residential properties.

HCH Construction is based right here in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, close to every project they manage.
This local presence is essential. Building on an island requires deep knowledge of:
Because HCH is on-site, they can supervise consistently, respond quickly, and provide ongoing support long after construction is completed. In Cozumel real estate, proximity equals peace of mind.
Construction has been part of Humberto Chim’s life since childhood. His father, a civil engineer, began building in Cozumel in 1985, and Humberto grew up surrounded by job sites, contractors, and active projects.
From a very young age, he accompanied his father to construction sites, observing how empty spaces slowly transformed into finished homes. These early experiences gave him a deep respect for the process, the people involved, and the importance of doing things right from the start.
Later, Humberto chose to contribute from another angle. He studied an administrative career, focusing on organization and project structure. After graduating, he specialized in Construction Project Management, including professional experience working in Canada.
That path confirmed his role within HCH: ensuring that clients clearly understand every step, teams stay aligned, and the final result truly reflects what the client envisioned from day one.

Over the years, HCH has successfully completed:
This experience translates into real benefits for homeowners and investors:
A well-built property doesn’t just look good, it protects value and ages gracefully over time.

In Cozumel, a pool is more than a luxury, it is an essential part of island living and a key factor in property value.
One of HCH’s most iconic projects is Cascada Maya. This is not simply a pool, but a thoughtfully designed outdoor experience. The project features two interconnected pools, joined by an elegant, multi-level cascading waterfall.
From a technical perspective, Cascada Maya is a showcase of hydraulic engineering and structural precision. From a lifestyle perspective, it offers movement, sound, and visual harmony that transforms everyday afternoons into moments of relaxation.
This project is especially meaningful to us at Karen Cozumel Realtor. At the time, our brokerage helped connect the perfect buyers with HCH, and years later, we are still close friends. In fact, we recently celebrated a birthday breakfast together at Cascada Maya, a beautiful reminder that real estate is ultimately about relationships.
Mama Joe, I can't wait for more of your delicious creations!

Another project we love highlighting is the Casa Oso pool renovation.
This renovation is a great example of how thoughtful construction and renovation can:
Projects like Casa Oso demonstrate how the right upgrades directly impact Cozumel real estate value.

Island living is beautiful, but it comes with unique responsibilities. Humberto and his team always emphasize preventive maintenance as the key to protecting your investment.
Humidity Is Normal, Ignoring It Isn’t
Proper ventilation, fans, dehumidifiers, and regular checks in closets and storage areas prevent long-term issues.
Salt Air Requires Extra Care
Railings, door hardware, air conditioning units, and outdoor fixtures benefit from regular rinsing and inspections.
Waterproofing Is Not Optional
Roofs, terraces, and bathrooms must be properly sealed to protect the structure and keep maintenance costs under control.
Island rule #1: Preventive maintenance always wins.

In Humberto’s experience, the difference between a house and a home is how it feels to live in it.
A home works when spaces flow naturally, daily routines feel effortless, and comfort is immediate.
Beyond plans and finishes, there is that intangible feeling of warmth, the desire to stay, to enjoy, and to truly belong.
That is the standard HCH aims for in every project.

The reason this celebration holds a special place in our hearts is the exceptional culinary offerings of the season. We celebrate with home-cooked meals, but we also take full advantage of the delicious options available at local restaurants, enjoying them with friends and family.

Those who work closely with Humberto know that laughter is very much part of the process.
